Why go natural: baby skincare

The baby skincare facts

When it comes to choosing products for your baby’s precious skin, it’s essential to know not only the ingredients, but also the impact of those ingredients. Will they be soothing or irritating? Will they be harmful or healthy?

It may seem silly that you even have to ask yourself these questions when it comes to baby shampoos, baby oils and lotions, cleansers, and teething toys, but the unfortunate truth is that there are dozens of chemicals found in conventional baby care.

Those nasty chemicals include:

SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). One of the most commonly used detergents and emulsifiers in cosmetics and personal hygiene products, SLS is the ingredient that creates lather. It’s been proven to cause both skin and eye irritation. Not to mention, when it’s manufactured, it gets contaminated with two carcinogens: 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide. No thanks!

Synthetic Fragrance. When you see “fragrance” as an ingredient on a shampoo bottle, it’s actually a catchall term for up to 4,000 other fragrance-forming ingredients, most of which are synthetics, preservatives, and potentially allergy-provoking substances. In fact, exposure to synthetic fragrances has been linked to the skin condition, dermatitis. Note: If you see “fragrance” listed as an ingredient on a product stocked with The Clean Collective, it’s in its natural form without any processing or added substances.

Butylparaben, Methylparaben, and Propylparaben are chemical preservatives that inhibit the growth of bacteria. While that might sound like a good thing, parabens have been shown to mimic the female hormone estrogen when ingested or absorbed into the body. Estrogen disruption is now being linked to cancer growth, specifically breast cancer.

Nourishing sensitive baby skin with natural and organic solutions

The Clean Collective’s collection includes baby shampoo and body wash, moisturising lotions and oils, washers, bath toys and teethers. Every item has been sourced and tested to ensure the highest quality.

The good news is you don’t have to go through the trouble of searching for toxin-free bath care products for your little one – they’ve done it for you. Every ounce of shampoo, soap, toy, or lotion is made of perfectly healthy ingredients that will keep your baby safe and well.

The impact on planet Earth

Studies are showing that the chemicals found in conventional personal care products are being flushed into our water systems and posing a risk to wild life in the ocean and on land. By choosing cleaner, greener products for yourself and your family, you help to lessen the chemical burden on the planet.
