1. Castile Soap Dish Washing Liquid
INGREDIENTS
- Super Washing Soda – 1/3 cup (3.5 oz )
- Liquid Castile Soap – 1 cup (8 ounces)
- Water – 1 cup (8 ounces)
- Vegetable Glycerin – 1/2 Tbsp (optional)
- The Clean Collective Amber Glass Pump Bottle
- Saucepan/kettle to boil the water
- Large glass, heatproof bowl
METHOD
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Pour washing soda into a large glass, heatproof bowl.
- Stir in boiling water. Continue stirring until washing soda is completely dissolved.
- Leave to cool until the liquid is at room temperature.
- Stir in the Castile Soap and Vegetable Glycerin until well combined.
- Store detergent in an amber glass pump bottle from The Clean Collective.
- Use 2 tablespoons of Castile Soap Dish Washing Liquid per large sink of water.
2. Natural All Purpose Cleaner
INGREDIENTS
- ¼ Cup Castile Soap
- ¾ Cup Baking Soda
- 5-10 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil (Optional)
- The Clean Collective Amber Glass Jar
METHOD
- Simply stir all the ingredients together to make a creamy paste that resembles buttercream icing. If you prefer a thinner cleaner you can simply add extra Castile Soap, or a tablespoon of water.
- Keep in an amber glass jar, to prevent plastic leaching into the cleaner.
3. Liquid Hand Soap
INGREDIENTS
- ½ Cup Castile Soap Liquid
- ½ Cup Distilled Water
- 1 Tablespoon of Vitamin E oil (optional)
- 1 Tablespoon Almond Oil or Jojoba Oil or Olive Oil
- 15 Drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
- 5-10 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
- An Amber Glass Jar or Pump Bottle from The Clean Collective, or a recycled soap dispenser
METHOD
- In one of The Clean Collective’s amber glass jars, pump bottles or using a recycled soap dispenser, add the water first (to prevent bubbles) and then add the Castile Soap and the oils.
- Gently shake to mix the ingredients together.
- Shake gently before each use and then squirt or pour a small amount onto your hands and rinse with water.
4. Spicy Citrus Room Fragrance
INGREDIENTS
- 25 drops Wild Orange Essential Oil
- 25 drops Lemon Essential Oil
- 12 drops Ginger Essential Oil
- 2 tsp vodka
- The Clean Collective 120ml Amber Glass Spray Bottle
- Distilled Water
METHOD
- Mix all ingredients together in the glass spray bottle.
- Gently shake to mix.
5. Floral Room Fragrance
INGREDIENTS
- 25 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 25 drops Geranium Essential Oil
- 5 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
- 2 tsp vodka
- The Clean Collective 120ml Amber Glass Spray Bottle
- Distilled Water
METHOD
- Mix all ingredients together in the glass spray bottle.
- Gently shake to mix.
6. Multipurpose Balm
INGREDIENTS
- 3 Tablespoons Jojoba Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Butter
- 2 Teaspoons Beeswax
- Lip Balm Tin or Amber Glass Containers from The Clean Collective
- A saucepan
- Water
- A glass, heatproof measuring cup
METHOD
- Place a saucepan with a few inches of water in the bottom, over a low heat.
- Place the oils and beeswax in a glass measuring cup and place the cup into the pan of water to allow the wax to melt and combine with the oils.
- Remove the heat.
- You can add 5-10 drops of your favourite essential oil while the mixture is cooling. Lavender is great for a relaxing balm, while peppermint is amazing at making a pick me up balm. Pour the mix into one of our metal lip balm tins or amber glass jars and leave to cool and set.
- Once set, place the lids on and keep in a cool place.
- This is a multi purpose balm as you can use it on hands, feet, elbows, lips, hair and even your hands and cuticles.
7. Non Greasy Body Lotion
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Tablespoons of Grated Beeswax
- 1/2 Cup of Sweet Almond Oil or Olive Oil
- 2 Tablespoons of Vitamin E Oil
- 2 Tablespoons of Cocoa Butter
- 3/4 Cup of Water
- Double broiler (you can create this by putting a glass bowl into a pan of simmering water)
METHOD
- Melt your beeswax, almond oil, and cocoa butter in a double broiler.
- Once they’ve melted add the vitamin E, a natural preservative and excellent for nourishing skin. In the base of a blender add your water.
- Once the water is blending slowly stream in your oils. You’re creating an emulsion. Do it VERY SLOWLY. You will see it form into a thick and creamy consistency.
- Pour it into amber glass pump bottles or amber glass jars from The Clean Collective.
- This mixture then needs to be kept in the fridge to avoid it spoiling.
8. Whipped Body Butter
INGREDIENTS
- 53 g Shea Butter
- 26g Coconut Oil
- 13g Sweet Almond Oil
- 13g Sunflower Oil
- 7g Jojoba Oil
- 3.5g Beeswax Pellets
- ½ tbsp Tapioca Starch or Arrowroot Powder
- ¼ tsp Vitamin E Oil
- Kitchen scale
- A small glass bowl
- Double Broiler (you can create this by putting a glass bowl into a pan of simmering water)
- A hand or stand mixer
- A Metal Tin or Amber Glass Jar from The Clean Collective
METHOD
- For a strong fragrant Body Butter add 3-4 drops of each: Patchouli, Lavender, Tea Tree, Frankincense and Sweet Orange essential oils; OR For a more subtle Orange & Vanilla body butter add ? tsp vanilla extract and 10-15 drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil.
- Using a kitchen scale, measure out the shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil and bees wax into a small, glass bowl.
- Melt the oils using a double boiler.
- Remove from heat once melted and let the mixture cool until it’s opaque (to speed this is you can put it in the fridge, but don’t let it solidify completely).
- Next, it’s time to whip the melted oils into body butter. If using a hand mixer, add the remaining ingredients to the bowl. If you’re using a stand mixer, add the remaining ingredients and the melted oils to the stand mixer bowl.
- Whip until the ingredients are well combined and the mixture is light and fluffy – about 3-5 minutes.
- You’re finished whipping when the body butter can stick to a spoon when held upside-down.
- Transfer to a reused metal tin or one of The Clean Collective’s Amber Glass Jars and store in a cool place.
